Bandit’s challenge took place adopting the Tier 4 emission standards for diesel engines. This switch
limited the amount of hydraulic power that could be driven off the front of the engine. As a result of this
limitation, they were no longer able to drive the pumps for the tracks and they needed to keep existing
space constraints.
Finding a solution for this issue led Bandit to WPT Power’s Single Head Pump Drive which mounts on
the flywheel side of the engine. This versatile pump drive offers live hydraulic power when the engine is
running, and can be rotated 360o. Coupled with the WPT Pilotless™ Mechanical PTO, it eliminates pilot
bearing alignment issues and increases sideload capacity.
WPT offered a simple and compact design that drives hydraulic horsepower from the flywheel side of
the engine. Working closely with Bandit Industries has been key in developing a pump drive package
that meets customer performance requirements while merging existing specification systems with new
engine equipment/upgrades.
